Hey folks!
This might seem a little off-topic from the usual threads here, but I couldn’t help asking — has anyone explored Consumption mutual funds recently?
I know this category is mostly used for random chat, but I figured there’s always someone here who knows a thing or two about smart investing. Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz around consumption funds and how they might be a strong theme for the next few years, especially with India's rising consumer spending.
For anyone unfamiliar, Consumption mutual funds are thematic funds that invest in businesses like FMCG, retail, automobiles, and lifestyle brands — basically, companies that benefit when people spend more on day-to-day stuff. The logic seems solid, but I’m trying to understand if this is just a trend or something worth including in a long-term portfolio.
I’ve also been thinking about whether to go in through a SIP or invest a lump sum. I keep hearing that a Best SIP strategy is ideal for volatile sectors like this, but I’m curious what you all think. Does averaging out cost really work when it comes to focused funds like these?
Also, some platforms have started listing their picks for the best consumption mutual fund, but honestly, it's hard to trust just rankings and ratings without hearing from real investors.
Here’s what I’m hoping to hear from the community:
Appreciate any advice or ideas.

- Have you or someone you know invested in consumption funds?
- What’s your take — overhyped or underrated?
- Which one do you think is the best consumption mutual fund out there right now?
- Would you prefer a SIP for this, or go in lump sum?
Appreciate any advice or ideas.
