Our story begins with Isabella. Born and raised in Kodiak, Alaska, Isabella started Sugpiaq in 2003 with the intention to share Kodiak’s pristine seafood, Alaska’s beauty, and her Native Sugpiaq culture. Back then, Sugpiaq bought sockeye salmon from local fishermen, and halibut and crab from her brother’s boat, all from Sugpiaq’s humble waterfront office and dock in Kodiak. Today, Sugpiaq is still privileged to work directly with fishermen and fisheries. Sugpiaq has also grown through extraordinary partnerships and exclusive rights with livestock farmers, agricultural producers, artisan producers, and food ready products producers who are equally as conscious about quality, hospitality and laughter as Sugpiaq. |
